Walking through Bötzowkiez in Prenzlauer Berg, you will find the café “Satt & Glücklich” (meaning full & happy). Here you can find a variety of lunch options such as salads, sandwiches, bowls, soups and mixed plates in addition to coffee and cake. They have an all-day breakfast menu consisting of several vegan and vegetarian breakfast platters, granola, porridge, and other options. On Saturdays and Sundays, they also serve waffles and a few other dishes.

Aside from being certified organic, ‘Satt & Glücklich’ serves lots of gluten-free dishes. Most of their soups, salads, spreads, and also breakfast platters are gluten-free (minus the bread). If you like, you can add arepas to your order – these are round corn loaves of bread without gluten, perfect for sweet and savoury spreads.
The speciality at ‘Satt & Glücklich’ is the selection of homemade vegan cheeses, which are primarily made from cashews – although they constantly experiment with new ingredients.

We’ve already visited the café a couple of times and tried cake, a mixed lunch platter, and the ‘Vegan Brunch Deluxe for 2’, which was amazing. It is served with a variety of homemade spreads, smoked tofu, egg mayonnaise, a vegan cheese selection, grilled veggies, jam, a bread basket, and a choice of soup, porridge or granola. Although a little more expensive, the quality and taste – and especially the vegan cheeses – make it worth a visit.

Inside, the café has space for about 20 people. During warmer days, you can also sit outside on one of the tables. The staff is very friendly and happy to help – they will also refill your bread basket if necessary. 🙂
In addition to its regular business, the café also organises regular events – usually dinners – with a focus on extraordinary vegan cuisine. Examples are the ‘Indonesian Night’, ‘Indian Thali Night’ or the upcoming ‘British Pie‘ event.
We recommend a breakfast or brunch platter with vegan cheese.
We visited “Satt & Glücklich” in February 2019.
