Haferkater is a café specialised in sweet and savoury porridges with two locations in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain.
With its two locations in Berlin (and one more in Cologne main station), Haferkater is a great destination for a relaxed breakfast or a coffee break. They serve a variety of sweet and savoury vegan porridges topped with nuts, apple sauce, chocolate or beetroot.
The menu also includes cake (banana bread or lemon cake), coffee with optional soy or oat milk, and smoothies.
Even though not entirely vegan (they have some vegetarian dishes), Haferkater is perfect to get your daily caffeine dose.
In case you’re looking for a place to work Haferkater (in Prenzlauer Berg at least) has free Wi-Fi and enough space. In summer the doors are opened to enjoy the busy atmosphere of Eberswalder Straße.
Haferkater is furnished with a mix of vintage and modern wooden furniture in addition to lovely plants and accessories such as design lamps.
We recommend the “Knusperkater” porridge with almonds, cashews, cedar nuts, crunchy oats and maple syrup or the current seasonal porridge.
We visited “Haferkater” in November 2018.
