We visited “Yarok” on Torstrasse. There is a second “Yarok”-restaurant on Wilhelmstrasse in Mitte.

Serving non-vegan food as well, Yarok is a great place to eat with your colleagues and friends. Although usually quite crowded, food is prepared and served quickly in order to finish your lunch break on time.

During lunch hours, Yarok fills up with employees of the area. With prices between 6 and 8€ the diner-style restaurant has average prices for the area. Portions are quite big so make sure to bring an empty stomach.

Their absolute speciality is the mixed platter. The vegan one comes with hummus, tabouleh, couscous, Mutabal (eggplant dip), falafel, grilled veggies, a variety of salad and dips.

Other plant-based dishes include “Makali” (fried veggies with hummus and salad), falafel, a hummus plate, a roasted eggplant plate as well as a variety of salads. These include a fava bean salad with chickpeas, couscous as well as “Tabbouleh” – a salad based on parsley.

The quality and freshness of the food plus the variety of items on your plate (especially with one of the platters) are unique for the area of Torstraße – at least we haven’t found anything coming close to it.

The atmosphere here is very lively with lots of people crowded inside (and outside in summer). Make sure to pay in time – it may take a while with everything that’s going on in the kitchen area.

By the way – the name “Yarok” is Hebrew and means “green”.

We recommend the vegan mixed platter
