Located not far from the U-Bahn line 1 “Schlesisches Tor”, Rebellion des Zimtsterns is a large café offering a variety of vegan and vegetarian food and drinks.

It is entirely vegetarian and everything is homemade. Almost all of the cakes and cookies are vegan and looked very yummy. When we visited, they had two varieties of cookies, an apple-berry-crumble, a chocolate cake, a plum-poppyseed-cake and a couple other sweet choices.

Appetizers - vegan fried avocados and vegetarian asparagus salad

They serve vegan quiche, German savoury pancakes filled with courgette-curry-pâté, salads, grilled sandwiches as well as daily dishes such as a veggie-millet-gratin. Additionally, they offer vegetarian or vegan rice or semolina pudding with a variety of toppings including maple sirup, homemade apple or plum sauce or eggs(!).

Prices are very affordable – 2,80€ for a cappuccino with soy or oat milk and about 2 to 3€ for a piece of cake. A filled pancake costs 6,50€.

The inside of the café is furnished with a couple of large and small tables, perfect in case you want to get some work done. Free Wi-Fi is available, so make yourself comfortable.

The interior consists of the typical Berlin café equipment – a mix of vintage chairs and tables and other furnishings, making it almost feel like a huge living room – except for the bright, green walls maybe :).

If the weather allows it, take one of the seats outside and watch people passing by the busy Schlesische Straße. There are about 16 seats available outside and another 30 to 35 inside.

The coffee we had was good, the cake was seriously scrumptious! The staff was superfriendly, making our visit there a great experience.

We recommend cake and a savoury pancake.

We visited “Die Rebellion des Zimtsterns” in June 2017.
